한국어 직역 습관을 인식하고 자연스러운 영어 패턴으로 교체한다

한국식 프레젠 영어의 특징

한국인이 영어로 발표할 때 한국어 사고방식을 그대로 적용하는 경우가 많습니다. 문법적으로 틀리지 않더라도 영어권 청중에게는 어색하게 들립니다. 가장 흔한 패턴은: 지나친 겸손 표현, 주어 생략, 직역 표현, 그리고 결론을 마지막에 말하는 두괄식 회피입니다. 이런 습관을 인식하고 교정하면 영어 발표 실력이 크게 향상됩니다.

겸손 표현 교정

한국어에서는 겸손이 미덕이지만, 영어 발표에서 과도한 겸손은 자신감 부족으로 보입니다. ❌ 'I'm not an expert, but…' ✅ 'Based on my research/experience, …' ❌ 'My English is not good, so please understand.' ✅ (아예 말하지 않는 것이 좋음) ❌ 'This might not be a good idea, but…' ✅ 'Here's what I'd like to propose.' ❌ 'I'm sorry if this is boring.' ✅ 'I hope you find this useful.' 💡 자신감 있는 시작이 청중의 신뢰를 얻습니다.

직역 표현 교정

한국어를 그대로 영어로 옮기면 어색한 표현들: ❌ 'I will explain about this topic.' ✅ 'I'll explain this topic.' (explain은 타동사, about 불필요) ❌ 'Please see the next slide.' ✅ 'Let's take a look at the next slide.' ❌ 'As I mentioned before…' (너무 잦은 사용) ✅ 'As we discussed earlier…' / 'Building on that point…' ❌ 'The reason is because…' ✅ 'The reason is that…' / 'This is because…' ❌ 'I want to emphasize that…' ✅ 'I'd like to highlight that…' (want → 'd like = 더 정중)

구조적 교정: 두괄식 사용

한국어 발표: 배경 → 과정 → 결론 (미괄식) 영어 발표: 결론 → 근거 → 세부사항 (두괄식) ❌ 한국식: '저희가 6개월간 연구했고, 다양한 방법을 시도했는데, 결론적으로 A안이 최선입니다.' ✅ 영어식: 'Our recommendation is Plan A. Here's why. Over the past six months, we've tested multiple approaches, and the data clearly supports this direction.' 💡 PREP 구조를 사용하세요: P: Point (결론) R: Reason (이유) E: Example (예시) P: Point (결론 반복)
