최상급 만드는 법

비교급처럼 음절 수에 따라 다릅니다: 1음절: the + -est • tall → the tallest • fast → the fastest 3음절 이상: the most + 형용사 • beautiful → the most beautiful • interesting → the most interesting 철자 규칙도 비교급과 같습니다: • big → the biggest • happy → the happiest

the를 쓰는 이유

최상급 앞에는 반드시 the를 붙입니다. ❌ She is tallest in the class. ✅ She is the tallest in the class. '가장 ~한 것'은 하나뿐이므로 the(정관사)가 필요합니다. ⚠️ 예외: 소유격이 있으면 the 생략 • my best friend (the 불필요) • his greatest achievement
